Both innovation and practicality are evident in the thousands of applications the EPAK Board has reviewed since 1993. The following examples illustrate the range and diversity of these requests.
- Ocean Commotion Assembly by the National Center for Science Education
- hydroponic green houses to build a 3-D model of a Mars habitat
- lab materials for genetic study of mayflies
- display boards for science fair projects
- math and science puzzles and games
- field trip to Hidden Villa
- stamps, envelopes and transportation for pen pal program with Stanford students; after four letters, students meet their pals for a tour of campus
- biography books to for a writing project
- trip to the Baylands led by Environmental Volunteers, with preparatory classroom presentation
- listening centers with storybooks on tapes
- DNA Fingerprinting Electrophoresis kits for a middle school science lab
- math software and flash cards; language, handwriting and spelling workbooks
- calculators for high school physics and geometry classes
